I have been thinking lately about how my children do things that I love. Little things that make me realize why children are considered a gift and a reward from our loving God... Here are some I have enjoyed with Richelle...(I am sure I have missed many in this short list)
Birth (of course) She is our oldest and I will never forget the day we became parents.
Her first Sacrament presentation. For those who are not LDS once a year the children (3 - 11) put a presentation together for church in which they sing songs that they have learned all year and they share their theme for the year with the rest of the congregation. Richelle knew every song! She sat up front in her Burgundy dress that was made for her aunts wedding and was beautiful Even 9 years later I can picture it in my mind.
Pee-Wee Soccer games - she twirled and danced so beautifully on the field - not a lot of soccer - and "please don't hit me with that ball when I am at the goal"
Sending her to Kindergarten. Dallin cried as we walked away from her.
Baptism day. She shared that event with 2 of her friends.
Unicycling in the Parade - It was a wonderful thing to walk along side my children as they rode in the parade last year. I had a glimpse of what it must have been like for my parents to watch me perform in parades.
Band Concerts - I love watching her play the flute.
Earning her Faith in God Award - It took many nights of family effort and we are better and closer for it!
Turning 12 yrs old and becoming a member of the Young Women's organization in Church. - She is such an amazing girl. She is committed to attending all of her church activities no matter what!
Taking her to the temple - what a wonderful time we have had. She has been privileged to have been able to go 3 times. We dream of going to Navoo and Palmyra someday and being able to visit the temples there too. (It is a dream trip I want to take the kids on)
Making Dinner for the family - Man it is handy on a busy day to pass that job off to Richelle. And she does a great job with it.
Listening to her study with her Dad - Her dad is getting ready for Dental School and she will sit and listen to him go on and on about his science classes. It puts me to sleep but she will have the conversation and do research with him.
Graduating today from 6th grade - I watched her interact with her friends, some of whom she has had since Kindergarten. She is a great girl. She is kind, forgiving and smart. She makes her mistakes but she tries to follow Christ's example and I am pleased with her. It is amazing to me that when we have to make a choice we only have to discuss the counsel given to us by our church leaders and the decision is made... we will follow them and she supports it. She listens to the spirit and follows the promptings she receives. I love her so much!
I am so lucky and blessed to be Richelle's mom.
