On Dec. 11th Phillip and I were driving home from work trying to get home before Dallin and Richelle got home from school. We were amazed when we pulled into the neighborhood to see all the branches all over every yard and covering the streets. I was a little nervous that I would hurt the Expedition driving over some of them. The thought popped into my mind, "What if a tree fell on our house" and I laughed at myself.
When we got home I was relieved that we beat Dallin and Richelle. I opened the door and noticed that Chelsea had gotten loose, she broke her collar! I thought, man she really has to go to the bathroom. I went to the sliding door talking to Phillip and not watching where I was going. I opened the door and looked outside (Cheslea refused to go out). It took a few seconds for me to register what I was seeing. I actually remember thinking, What is that?
When I realized that it was a tree I ran to the front of the house to get to the back yard and see how bad it was. That was when I saw the shed. What a day. No wonder Chelsea broke her collar off. She was tethered to the back wall of the house. The tree falling had to make a horrible sound. I am so glad we weren't home.
I had a neighbor from 2 doors up come over and check to see if we were OK. Then he had me calm down enough to call the insurance. Dallin came in and was chatting away. When he got to where he could see the shed he fell to the floor and cried about his bike. It was under the tree.
What a day! We are lucky to have good friends. They showed up almost instantly. One took the boys away, and one started to cut the limbs off the tree. Others helped me start pulling things out of the shed before the rain did more damage to our things.
I am grateful that we had already decorated for Christmas because several of the containers that my decorations store in were crushed.
